Raised in Ft Worth, Texas, Gaurang is currently a medical student at WashU Medicine. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2016 with a B.S. in Biology with additional Minors in Electrical Engineering and Math. Prior to joining the Sleepy Brain Lab in 2021 as a medical student research assistant, he was a volunteer research assistant in the chronic pain neuroscience group of Dr. Yuan Bo Peng and the iMEMS electrical engineering group of Dr. J.-C. Chiao at UT Arlington. He has research interests in understanding the effect of anesthetic agents on intracortical and subcortical neural networks and in improving EEG signal analysis techniques. He will be joining the anesthesia residency program at WashU Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys working out and watching dirt bike racing.
