Born and raised in the Inland Empire of Southern California, Joseph graduated with an A.D. in Nursing from Chaffey College in 2010 followed by a B. S. in Nursing in 2015 from Azusa Pacific University. He received his M.D. from the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine in 2021. Joseph previously worked in research labs in nephrology and immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and UC Riverside respectively. He joined the Sleepy Brain Lab in 2021 after matching into the categorical anesthesiology residency program at WashU/BJC. Joseph will be investigating sleep EEGs and postoperative delirium in elderly patients as part of the P-DROWS-E study. He hopes to pursue dual fellowships in cardiothoracic anesthesia and critical care medicine after completing his anesthesia residency training followed by a career at an academic medical center where he can be involved in training future anesthesiologists. In his free time, Joseph enjoys reading fiction novels, solving puzzles, crocheting, cooking, and baking.
